- Hadja Sakinur-Ain Mugong Delasas (Dance) — Hadja Sakinur-Ain Mugong Delasas is a Sama cultural artist who was born on September 2, 1954, in Simunul, Sulu (now part of Tawi-Tawi). She is part of the Sama community and was recognized as a master of the Sama’s traditional dance called “Igal”. Delasas learned the dance from her mother at a young age. She later became affiliated with the Mindanao State University-Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography through the Tambuli Cultural Dance Troupe, where she became its director and developed and promoted Sama cultural arts.
- Barbara Kibed Ofong (Textile weaver) — Barbara Kibed Ofong is a 2023 GAMABA Awardee who hailed from Lake Sebu, South Cotabato, Philippines. She is a T’boli master weaver who learned the art of T’nalak textile weaving at an early age, from her family of traditional T’boli weavers. Barbara Ofong is known for creating T’nalak, sacred handwoven cloth that is made from abaca fibers. She is also known as “dreamweaver,” as she weaves patterns from the dreams she believed were inspired by the T’boli spirit Fu Dalu. Through community traditions, mentorship from older weavers, and decades of practice, she preserved and enriched her community's traditional weaving heritage.
- Uwang Ahadas (Musician) — Uwang Ilul Ahadas was a Yakan folk musician who was born on February 15, 1945, in Lamitan, Basilan. He was a member of the Yakan community and also became nearly blind at the age of five. Despite the challenge, he mastered several traditional Yakan instruments, including the gabbang, agung, kwintangan, and tuntungan, through traditional community learning and observing elders, along with practicing indigenous musical traditions. He dedicated his life to preserving Yakan traditional musical traditions and became one of the country’s most respected folk musicians. Ahadas was a 2000 GAMABA Awardee in Yakan Traditional Music. He died on October 29, 2022, at the age of 77.
- Adelita Romualdo Bagcal (Chanter and Poet) — Adelita Romualdo Bagcal is a 2023 GAMABA Awardee and an Ilocano chanter from Banna, Ilocos Norte. She was born on January 16, 1946, in Banna, Ilocos Norte, where she learned the traditional Ilocano chant “Dallot” from her grandmother, Veronica Suguitan Urbano, when she was 15 years old. Dallot was commonly used during courtship, weddings, and community celebrations. Bagcal became the foremost practitioner of Ilocano oral traditions and is widely known as the “Dallot Queen of the North.”
- Eduardo Mutuc (Metalsmith) — Eduardo Tubig Mutuc is a 2004 GAMABA Awardee who was born on October 12, 1949, in Apalit, Pampanga. He was popularly known as “Tatang Eddie” and grew up in a farming family with 9 siblings. He completed elementary education only and later learned his artistic skills through apprenticeship and hands-on training. At the age of 29, he started learning woodcarving under master carver Carlos Quiros at an antique shop. Mutuc mastered the Kapampangan metalcraft known as “pinukpuk,” also called “pukpuk pilaw,” which is a technique of embossing intricate designs on metal sheets.
