• Title: The Chinese Horse, Artist: Unknown, Year: 15,000–13,000 BCE, Medium: Paint on limestone rock (2026) — Though the Chinese horse might of been created on uneven lime stone with limited materials for color paint, it still holds up after so many centuries and harsh conditions of nature, The red crack or scar act as a secondary focal point, the limestone adds another level of unexpected simplicity yet also creative thinking, as it acts as an undertone to the brown color of the horse, that combination of both the simplistic design a horse, the ambiguity of the lore, the context or reason for this to exist at all creates a spark of doubt and curiosity into the viewer, for all we know, this could be a depiction of a horse sighting, a story being told, or even instructions on how to tame a horse, nothing is off the table, as no one was there when it was painted, all we can assume is what we can.
• Title: Great Hall of the Bulls Artist: Unknown Year: 15,000 to 13,000 BCE Medium: Rock painting using charcoal, ochre, and mineral pigments on white c (2026) — The Great Hall of Bulls, creates an imposing work of art, 7 or 8 massive bulls, not charging, not attacking, gazing together, the ambiguity, the lack of proper coloring other than the charcoal and iron, the simplistic design of the bulls and the lack of context would normally make a painting hard to connect, but this one does, so simple yet being somehow so complex and sophisticated that makes the painting looks so alive, with the limestone, the different shades of colors really drive the ancient look home, while there isn’t much context, that gives the viewer a chance to understand the meaning through their own vision, a heard gracing peacefully, a warning, a story.
• Title: Game Pass Shelter Drakensberg, The "Rosetta Stone" Panel Artist: unknown Year: 500 BC to 1000 AD Medium: Rock painting using natural earth pig (2026) — The Game Pass Shelter, though not very detailed in the creation, creates a connection, both the spiritual connection and a trust connection, as the painting’s limited colors and simplistic design of the animals and people, alongside the amount of blank space on the stone background acts as a welcome sign, not hostile, no threats, no hidden secrets, just a safe place to rest or pass by, the type of pigment that was used to color this painting on the wall tells a more primal and perhaps mystical connection between us humans, what that means to us, we don’t know, it could be a safe passageway for spirits, a way of honoring the animals that once lived here and no longer do, who knows.
• Title: Cueva de las Manos (Cave of the Hands) Artist: Prehistoric Patagonian hunter-gatherer groups, ancestors of local indigenous peoples, Year: betw — The Panel of hands, though a painting it doesn’t show a person, nor an animal, it depicts hand prints, though the setting lack of evidence of what was going on or the reason for this hand print mural to be created, the painting used makes it hard to miss, yet it’s hard to put a single meaning to it, making this a question for people to ask yet never receive the answer to, but what we do know is that these hand prints do leaves a message to everyone, maybe intentional, maybe not, we will all be gone someday, some of use might be forgotten, but we can leave a mark with our actions every single day.
• Title: Panel of Hands (Cave of El Castillo) Artist: Unknown, Year: c. 37,300+ years ago (for hand stencils),Medium: Red ochre, charcoal, and mineral p — The cave of hands, shows not only a few hands, but depicting a whole community, pitching in on the work of are, there is a contrast to some prints, some being the color on the stone, while some are outlined by the color around, making each hand print unique, different, and so colorful with the limited supplies, representing each person who was there, though this artwork is missing context on why this was created, an achievement? A memory? A truce? And obviously no author can claim it or explain why, it creates a mysterious feeling to the painting, with the way it was made on stone, giving the painting a more traditional, ancestral and important edge to it, it creates unity, a sliver of hope for compassion between people, as well as a question for times like these, if people back then were able to work together and create a work of art like this, why can’t we do that today?
